The door of the aircraft carrying the French presidential couple to Hanoi, Vietnam, opened earlier than expected, revealing a moment of tension between Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte.
The presidential plane had just landed in Hanoi, and Emmanuel Macron was standing at the door, preparing to disembark. Suddenly, a hand—belonging to Brigitte Macron—landed forcefully on his face.
The image has made the rounds worldwide and has become more than just an awkward moment, both for the couple and for the airplane crew, who tried to act as though nothing had happened.
Initially, the Élysée Palace denied the incident, but as the video circulated globally, they were forced to acknowledge it, claiming it was a playful tease. They even attributed the negative reactions to pro-Russian circles.
Shortly after the incident, Macron gathered what composure he had left and exited the aircraft with his wife, but the photos and footage revealed a man under visible strain.
His clenched fist and troubled expression suggested that the French President was in a very poor psychological state.
Élysée Claims It Was Friendly Teasing
At first, the Élysée denied the authenticity of the footage. However, shortly afterward, amid the uproar the video caused, they had to change their stance.
A close associate of the President described it as a typical quarrel that can happen between couples. Later, Macron’s inner circle offered a different version, stating that it was a moment in which “the President and his wife were relaxing for the last time before the start of the trip, playing around.”
The same source described it as a moment of companionship and suggested that most of the negative commentary was coming from circles friendly to Russia.
